What Makes a Same-Day Drop Possible
On a rush call there is no time to agonize, so we default to the 20 yard. It fits a standard driveway, holds a flooded basement's worth of carpet, pad and drywall, and covers most cleanouts without a second trip. Go to the 30 yard if you are emptying a whole house or a crew is producing volume all day. Drop to a 15 yard for a tight alley or a single room. If a size is genuinely borderline, take the bigger one — on a deadline, a second haul costs you a day you do not have.

Honesty is faster than optimism, so here is what kills a same-day drop. A late-afternoon call, because the truck is already routed. An address out past Graham, Eatonville or Buckley when the day is full. A car in the spot, a locked gate, or a fence with no gate wide enough. Standing water and soft ground after a heavy week, which we will not take a loaded truck across. Street placement, because a City of Tacoma right-of-way permit does not issue in an hour. And any hint of asbestos in a pre-1980 building — that needs a survey first and no deadline changes it.

What time do I need to call for same-day?
Morning, and the earlier the better. Routes are built the night before and adjusted through the day, so a call at eight gives us room to work a drop in that a call at three does not. There is no magic cut-off time we can promise in writing — it depends on where the trucks are and what is already booked. Call and ask; we will give you a straight yes or no on the phone.
Do I pay more for same-day service?
No. Same-day runs on the same flat rate as a scheduled delivery, with the same tonnage allowance and the same protection boards. We do not run a rush surcharge, because a rush is usually somebody having a bad week already. What can cost more is a wrong-sized container ordered in a hurry, so spend the extra thirty seconds on the phone describing the pile before we roll.
Do I have to be home for the delivery?
Not if the placement is obvious and access is clear. Most same-day drops happen with nobody on site: you describe the spot, mark it with a cone or a bucket, and the driver sets it there and texts a photo. If the spot is ambiguous, if a gate needs opening, or if the driveway is shared, someone should be there. On a rush job, being available by phone matters more than being present.
Can you do a same-day swap on a full container?
Often, and it is usually easier than a new delivery because the box is already sitting there. Call before midday and tell us whether the container is loaded level with the rails, because an overfilled box has to be knocked down before the driver can take it. If today is full we hold next-day swaps as a standard, so a crew is rarely down more than a morning.
How far out do you deliver same-day?
Core same-day territory is Tacoma, Fife, Lakewood, University Place, Parkland, Spanaway and Puyallup. South Hill, Bonney Lake, Sumner, DuPont and Gig Harbor are possible on a light day. Graham, Eatonville and the far county edges are realistically next-day unless we already have a truck heading that way.
