Roll-off containers for DuPont homes and jobsites

DuPont is the far southwest end of our service area, about twenty miles down I-5 past Joint Base Lewis-McChord. It is an unusual place: a small city almost entirely master planned since the early 1990s, laid out as Northwest Landing with front porches, tight setbacks and garages off a rear lane. The housing is young, so full gut remodels are rare. What we get instead is military move-out cleanouts, garage and storage purges, flooring and deck replacements, and landscape overhauls as first-generation yards mature. That alley layout is a gift for container placement, since a box can sit behind the house without blocking a thing.

What we know about working in DuPont

Almost everything here was built after 1993 on the old DuPont powder works property, which gives the city an unusual uniformity: craftsman-styled homes on small lots, sidewalks, rear alleys and neighborhood parks within a short walk. Palisade Village, Hoffman Hill and Edmond Village each have their own association with rules on how long a container may sit and where. Intel and the surrounding business park, plus the base next door, drive the local economy, and permanent change of station orders keep move-outs constant. The historic village at the north end holds the older company houses and the museum. Sequalitchew Creek cuts a deep ravine down to the Sound. Newer roofs mean less tear-off work, though moss on north-facing slopes still arrives on schedule.

Getting a truck to you

It is a straight run: I-5 south from the Dome roughly twenty miles to exit 118, then Center Drive into town, about twenty-five to thirty minutes when the base commute is clear. Most DuPont homes have rear alley access, which is usually the better drop point since front driveways are short. Alleys are narrow, so cars and trash carts need to be moved first. Association rental limits are worth checking.

Routes we run: I-5 (exit 118), Center Drive, Barksdale Avenue, Steilacoom-DuPont Road.

Permits, streets and placement in DuPont

On a private driveway in DuPont you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from WSDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Pierce County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.

Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and PSCAA publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of DuPont. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Pierce County.

Dumpster Rental in DuPont — FAQs

Can the container go in the alley behind my DuPont house?

Usually yes, and it is often the better option since front driveways in Northwest Landing are short. The alleys are narrow, so vehicles, trailers and garbage carts need clearing before we arrive, and we cannot block a neighbor's garage. Confirm with your association first, because a few of them restrict alley placement outright or cap the number of days a container may sit.

Do you work with military move-out timelines?

Constantly. DuPont sits right outside Joint Base Lewis-McChord and permanent change of station season fills our calendar. Give us your clearing date when you book and we will schedule the pull before it, not after. If your household goods shipment leaves first and you are living out of a suitcase, a shorter rental with a firm pickup day usually beats an open-ended one.

Why is there so little demolition debris in DuPont compared to older towns?

Because almost every home here went up after 1993. There is no plaster, no knob-and-tube, and asbestos survey requirements rarely apply. What we do see is garage contents, old fencing, first-generation landscaping coming out, laminate and carpet being replaced, and deck boards that have run their course. That debris is lighter per cubic yard, so a larger container often works without hitting the weight limit.

How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to DuPont?

DuPont is about 20 miles southwest of Tacoma, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.

Do you charge extra to deliver to DuPont?

No. DuPont sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Tacoma. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.

What size dumpster do most DuPont customers take?

A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving coal-era brick, stone or concrete, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
