Roll-off containers for Fircrest homes and jobsites
Fircrest is a small city of about two square miles completely surrounded by Tacoma and University Place, a few minutes west of downtown. It started life in 1907 as a planned subdivision called Regents Park, and the curved streets, sidewalks and mature street trees are still what define it. Homes run from 1920s Tudors and Colonials through 1950s and 1960s ramblers, which means remodel debris here is old-house debris: plaster, lath, cast iron, original cabinetry and stubborn tile. Garage and basement cleanouts are constant, and so is roof work under all that canopy. Streets are narrow and well kept, so placement gets planned carefully.
What we know about working in Fircrest
For a city this small the housing is remarkably consistent. The original Regents Park plat holds the oldest and largest homes, with 1940s through 1960s infill filling out the rest and a handful of later developments such as The Commons and Weathervane added on. There is no industrial base; residents work in Tacoma, at the hospitals, or at the base. Fircrest Golf Club, founded in 1923, takes up a large share of the city, and Whittier Park and Fircrest Park anchor the rest. Big-leaf maples and firs planted a century ago now overhang the streets, which means heavy leaf fall, mossy roofs and regular limb removal. Basements are common on the older homes, and clearing one generates far more weight than volume.

Getting a truck to you
This is one of our shortest runs. From Stewart Street we cut through downtown to 6th Avenue, or take SR-16 west and drop in on Regents Boulevard, usually twelve to fifteen minutes. Fircrest streets are narrow with curbside parking and mature trees overhanging, so we watch clearance on the way in. Driveways are short on the older homes, and the city takes a dim view of containers left at the curb for long stretches.
Routes we run: SR-16, Regents Boulevard, Alameda Avenue, Emerson Street.

Permits, streets and placement in Fircrest
On a private driveway in Fircrest you generally do not need a municipal permit. Placement in the public street or right-of-way is a different matter and normally requires approval — from the borough or township where the road is locally maintained, or from WSDOT where it is a state route. Every municipality in Pierce County runs its own form and its own lead time, and older streets here often have no off-street parking at all, so plan the permit before you plan the delivery. It is a ten-minute call that saves a week.
Our permit and placement guide walks through the whole process, and PSCAA publishes the Covered Device Recycling Act rules and the other statewide disposal restrictions that apply to every load we haul out of Fircrest. County recycling and household hazardous waste dates are published by Pierce County.

Dumpster Rental in Fircrest — FAQs
My Fircrest house is from the 1930s. What should I know before demolition?
Anything built before 1980 needs an asbestos survey by an accredited inspector before renovation or demolition, and Puget Sound Clean Air Agency enforces that requirement. Old plaster systems, floor tile, mastic, pipe wrap and siding are all common suspects in Fircrest houses of that era. Get the survey done first, because finding it mid-job stops everything and the debris already loaded becomes a problem.
Is there room for a container on a narrow Fircrest street?
Usually we aim for the driveway instead. The original plat streets are narrow with cars parked on both sides and trees overhead, so a container at the curb crowds traffic and the city prefers it off the roadway. Most Fircrest driveways will hold a smaller box once the cars are moved. Tell us the driveway width and slope and we will match the size.
How heavy does a basement cleanout get?
Heavier than the pile looks. Old Fircrest basements hold cast iron, paint cans, tools, books, sheet metal, tile and stored lumber, and that material runs dense. A half-full container of it can outweigh a full container of framing lumber. We usually recommend a smaller box for basement work, and a second pull rather than one oversized load that cannot legally leave the property.
How quickly can you deliver a dumpster to Fircrest?
Fircrest is about 5 miles west of Tacoma, so it is a routine run for us. Same-day delivery is usually possible if you call before about 11am, and next morning otherwise. Storm weeks and the spring remodeling peak can stretch that, and we will tell you honestly when you call.
Do you charge extra to deliver to Fircrest?
No. Fircrest sits inside our standard service area and the flat rate is the same as it is in Tacoma. Delivery, pickup, your rental window and disposal up to the agreed tonnage are all included in the number we quote you.
What size dumpster do most Fircrest customers take?
A 20 yard is the most common by a wide margin — it suits kitchen guts, multi-room renovations and three-bedroom house cleanouts. But if you are stripping plaster and lath out of a pre-war house, or moving coal-era brick, stone or concrete, size DOWN to a 10 yard heavy container and take two hauls — that material hits the weight limit long before it fills the box.
